Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my 365 blog!

{If you'd like to visit my portrait photography website, click here.}

I'm a mom of 2 kids and have been a photographer for over 4 years. I decided to task myself with doing a 365 {or rather 366} photo project for 2012. I will take a photograph every day, with my "big girl camera". It will mostly be about my life, portrayed artistically. I want to challenge myself creatively and try new things. I'm excited about where this project will take me and I hope you will follow the journey with me!

Boise Photo Shoot November 8-9th, 2008

Where has November gone?  I thought life would slow down a little after the summer months, but it just keeps getting busier.  Besides planning and celebrating Isaac and Ella's 1st and 3rd birthday parties, Halloween, and most recently Thanksgiving, I had the opportunity to travel to Boise, ID for a weekend of photo shoots.

This idea was all concocted by my good friends Robin and Melissa who have 9-month and 8-month-old daughters, respectively.  They wanted someone they knew and trusted to take some pictures of their little ones!  So while they were together for a play date, my phone rang and they asked what it would take to get me and my gear down for a weekend.  A few phone calls and emails back and forth eventually blossomed into a weekend of 17 (yes, 17!) half-hour photo shoots of kids and families ranging from newborns to 6 and 4-year-old sisters.  During the planning process, Robin ended up selling her house and was moving into the new one the weekend after -- yes, she's crazy!  That gave me plenty of room to set up the studio though.  I stayed right there, and Robin scheduled each family to come every 1/2 hour, and believe it or not, it ran like clockwork!

Needless to say, it was a wonderful opportunity and I had a great time working with all the families and their kids.  They were such great subjects!  Thank you, Robin, for all your planning and hard work leading up to and during the shoot!  I couldn't have done it without you.  And thank you Melissa, for your help and feedback, and for providing me information from a graphic designer's perspective on how to improve my proofing processes!

Below are some of my favorite photos from all the shoots that weekend.  I will be posting more to my website soon.  Enjoy!

  1. Yippee, hooray, and gidde-up. The shoot in Boise was awesome and I think we have new Kim Hildebrand groupies. We need to get you back again in the spring. The families are thrilled with their photos and - personally - no one else but Kim is allowed to photograph my Sydney girl. All the best and ttif.
