Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my 365 blog!

{If you'd like to visit my portrait photography website, click here.}

I'm a mom of 2 kids and have been a photographer for over 4 years. I decided to task myself with doing a 365 {or rather 366} photo project for 2012. I will take a photograph every day, with my "big girl camera". It will mostly be about my life, portrayed artistically. I want to challenge myself creatively and try new things. I'm excited about where this project will take me and I hope you will follow the journey with me!

Dear Indira

I had the opportunity to photograph Indira (don't you love the name?) a few weeks ago.  Her parents are friends of mine who have roots back in Idaho just like my husband and I do.  We have a lot of common friends.  Needless to say, I was really looking forward to this shoot since I don't get to see them that often.  I was happy to be able to take their first family photos together.  Indira was a trooper, as were her parents!

Here are some of my favorites:

Maggie's 1st Photo Shoot

This was my first time photographing little Maggie, about 1 years old.  She was so sweet!  We were planning to do more outside shots but the neighbor's dog wouldn't stop barking.  He scared her a little.  But she was sure in her element inside!

What a doll, and what a great family!

Maternity Session Gone Awry....4.18.10

So I had the opportunity a few weeks ago to photograph a fantastic couple in West Seattle expecting their first child soon.  Everything was going well except for her spouse's new sunburn (yes - a sunburn in Seattle spring weather!) until the very end of the session.  We decided to drive WAY down this long narrow road with a ton of switch backs to Lincoln Park, right on the sound.  We took my car (well, my husband's car) and we're using gravity's assistance and just coasting down........

We get to the park and shoot a few more pictures and head back to the car.  I put the keys in the ignition, and.....nothing.  Absolutely nothing happens.  There's not one croak from the engine, no blink of light, no peep from the radio, no sign of life, no-thing.  HOW EMBARRASSING!!!  So here we are, at the BOTTOM of the huge hill with a woman who's 9 months pregnant, a ton of photo gear, and a spouse who's already exhausted from 18 holes of golf, a sunburn, and all these photos he's smiling for to make his wife happy.

Needless to say, what a sport he was!  He doesn't hesitate to volunteer to huff it back up this huge hill to their house to get their car (what other option was there, really?).  And she is so gracious too!  We just grab a bench back at the park and discuss our hectic lives and wait for her (our) knight in shining armor to show up.

So he finally makes it back with the car and I tell them they can take off - but they don't.  They stay and help me find someone who has jumper cables to help get the car started.  What a fantastic pair, these two!  If they have the patience, kindness, and empathy to help out a grown woman whom they hardly know, I can only imagine what amazing parents they are going to be once their little girl arrives.  She will be one lucky little girl!

Thanks SO much for your help!
