Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my 365 blog!

{If you'd like to visit my portrait photography website, click here.}

I'm a mom of 2 kids and have been a photographer for over 4 years. I decided to task myself with doing a 365 {or rather 366} photo project for 2012. I will take a photograph every day, with my "big girl camera". It will mostly be about my life, portrayed artistically. I want to challenge myself creatively and try new things. I'm excited about where this project will take me and I hope you will follow the journey with me!

365 Project | 247 - 261 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

Sept. 6th - Sorry another missed day (maybe number 3?).  Filled in with this sweet macro photo of a fern in our back yard.

Sept. 7th (taken with the iPhone) - playing at the playground :)

Sept. 8th - Fun session with the View Ridge Elementary auction winners!

Sept. 9th - Wedding @ Lake Union Cafe = beautiful.

Sept. 10th (taken with the iPhone) - the beautiful weather continues.....

Sept. 11th - view of all the session proofing I have to do

Sept. 12th - sun and warmth = getting to wear fun sandals and nail polish

Sept. 13th - Weird that I picked this photo since it was my birthday.  Anywho, it was a really cool red sunrise that morning when I turned....... 21 :)

Sept. 14th - Ella started soccer practice.  She's athletic and competitive so we're excited.  We'd actually be excited anyway.

Sept. 15th - I really don't remember why I took this, but looking at it now, I love symmetry, the sun shining through the window, the aloe vera that reminds me of my mom, and Isaac's hand plant, which remind me of Isaac and being a mama. :)

Sept. 16th - an intimate moment

Sept. 17th - We did some cardboard sledding after school in the scorching sun, and yes, Ella chooses to wear socks with her ballet flats. :)

Sept. 18th - I love succulents.

Sept. 19th - can't get enough of the sun and how it can make a mundane tree fun!

Sept. 20th - busy fulfilling product orders

365 Project | Day 235 - 246 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

Still enjoying the sun here.....you'll see proof in the photos!

August 25th - So I missed August 24th but the pizza photo can make up for that.  Everything was still blooming, the kids were going nuts staying up until 10pm, and we were all enjoying the vitamin D supplements......

August 26th - Had friends over (you know who you are) and the girls got into makin' some mud.  Why wouldn't you on a hot day?  I think hippos are really onto something.

August 27th - This makes me laugh.  Here we were in the middle of a fantastic Seattle summer and I mention that pretty soon school will start, soccer will begin, Fall will come as well as birthdays, vacation, and the holidays, and snow and skiing in the mountains.  Next thing I know, the kids have raided the closet and are pretending they're in a blizzard getting ready for a soccer game of course.  Our house is probably a comfortable 85 degrees at this point.

August 28th - Just some beauty in the neighborhood.

August 29th (taken with the iPhone) - Kids busy building a train track.  I love it when they focus together.

August 30th (taken with the iPhone) - I took Isaac to Discovery Park to explore.  Our indian summer is still going strong.  We had a fantastic day and made it all the way down to the light house and even flew the kite.

August 31st - Some products were sent out today.  I had some happy customers and unfortunately I don't think these photos do them justice.

Sept. 1st (taken with iPhone) - Labor Day weekend.  The last trip before school started.  We went up to Anacortes with friends and had a great time as usual!

August 2nd (taken with iPhone) - the beautiful marina.

August 3rd - Two days before school started.  Tim was giving Isaac some golf lessons.  He had a good left swing for a 4-year-old.

August 4th (taken with iPhone) - I took the kids to the King Tut Exhibit at the Seattle Science Center.  They seemed a little disinterested while we were there to be honest, but they still talk about it all the time.  It must have made some impression on them.  Maybe it had to do with the seagull that stole Ella's sandwich RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER while we were eating outside on the balcony......

Sept. 5th - School days, school days, reading and writing and arithmetic!  Sound familiar?

365 Project | Day 226 - 234 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

Oy Vey!  Where has the year gone?  I am so behind on this project - at least posting the project.   Things have finally died down a bit and considering I only have a few weeks till day number 366, thus the end, I'd better get sharing!

So this post shows you how behind I am.  The back-up started after our second trip to the cabin THIS SUMMER.  We've been crazy busy ever since but I've still been snapping away.  Some is not my best work, that's for sure, but that's life.   I had fun rounding up these photos to post and it seems like so long ago already.  Weird.

Hope you enjoy them and stay with me through to the end.  26 days to go till I've reached my gooooooooaaaal!

August 16 (taken with the iPhone) - Ella and Isaac's cousin Peyton was in town.  We took him to the aquarium and had a week of tourist activities planned in Seattle.  I'd recommend it to anyone.  It was fun to check out the city again in a different way.

August 17 - dry spell in Seattle which is really rare.  This ended up lasting through October if I remember right.

August 18th (taken with the iPhone) - day trip across the sound.

August 19th - I had a newborn session that day, and it was my anniversary!  12 years already!  Unfortunately I didn't get a good photo of us to post for the day so this sweet baby will have to suffice.

August 20th - crazy bubble bath in the tub :)

August 21st (taken with the iPhone) - Seattle skyline from the space needle.  Never tire of this view.

August 22nd (taken with the iPhone) - we went exploring @ Dahl Field.  Lots of fun spaces and places to check out and they had a basketball court for Peyton so he was happy.  If you've noticed he's not in any of these photos, its because he doesn't like his photo taken. :)

August 23rd - I had a photo shoot at Olympic Sculputure Park.  Loved this interesting view of the space needle.

August 23rd round 2 - We'll use this for August 24th since I missed it.  We smoked pizzas on Tim's green egg for Peyton's last dinner with us.  It is to DIE for.  Is is so scrumptious and the smoky flavor is amazing.  It is a must try if you've never had smoked pizza before.

365 Project | Day 206 - 225 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

You thought I abandoned this project didn't you?  Never.  I've just been really busy.  I took an intensive 3-day photo workshop, shot my first wedding of the season, and went to the cabin for a family reunion.  All fantastic and good, but it makes rounding up the photos and posting to the blog a little harder.

So I have some great ones for you this round!  These were taken from July 27 through August 15th, 2012.  Read on......

Day 206 - We had a pizza party with friends at our neighborhood park.  The kids were playing and riding bikes up and down the sidewalk, then they scurried down to tell us about the beautiful sunset!  In my haste, I tried to go for the reflection in the window.  It's okay but I could have worked a little harder to get a really good shot.

Day 207 - out of focus evening lights

Day 208 - Last photo shoot of the workshop at Harvey Airport in Snohomish - yes with hot air balloons!

Day 209 - Ella playing on our neighborhood swing - I took a whole series using some new techniques I learned that I'll post on www.kimhildebrand.com soon.

Day 210 - the moon(s!)  Any guesses on how I shot this?

Day 211 - We took a day trip to Alki Beach which has a fantastic view of Seattle.  We rode bikes along the path to the end, got ice cream, and played at the beach for hours.  We found out our route home, I5, was closed due to a major wreck, so we ended up having dinner outside at Salty's while we watched a harbor seal playing around.  I'd say it was a pretty good day. :)

Day 212 - the kids last day of swim class for the summer.  Isaac is starting to dive in the deep end!

Day 213 - We decided to ride our bikes to View Ridge Park, bike to dinner afterwards, and bike home.  The kids were troopers!  They loved it.

Day 214 - Don't ask me.  I have no idea why i took this photo, but its the only one I have for this day :(.  All I can say is its been 5 years since our kitchen remodel and I still love everything about it!

Day 215 - I photographed a big wedding at the Woodmark Hotel in Bellevue with the help of my friend Holland.  It was a long, hot (93 degrees) day, but I got some fantastic photos of their big day!

Day 216 - My Ecinacea is blooming, and I'm recovering from the wedding and packing for the cabin.

Day 217- Road trip to Coeur d'Alene, ID!

Day 218 - I love our cozy cabin :)

Day 219 - One of the many beautiful sunsets we saw during this visit.

Day 220 - I've been wanting to take a starpath photo for quite a while, and thought Idaho would be the perfect location.  There is hardly any humidity, no big city light interference, and no clouds this trip.  I was right!  This shot was a 25 minute exposure......

Day 220.2 - I had to share this one too.  The kids got to hang out with their cousin from my side of the family whom they hadn't seen since Christmas.  They had such a good time together even though their stay was cut a little short.  We can't wait to see them again!

Day 221 - hummingbird!

Day 221.2 - I had to share two photos for this day as well.  In this shot, I focused on the North Star, Polaris.  This exposure was 30 minutes long, and the ambient light at the bottom is from Coeur d'Alene.  There's also a little streak going across the photo, either from a plane or satellite - can you see it?

Day 222 - One of the most cozy breakfast nooks, ever.

Day 223 - We slept under the stars the night before to watch a meteor shower.  The kids LOVED it, and we actually saw about 10 shooting stars and got some sleep.  This photo is from the last sleepyhead snoozing the morning away.  The second photo of the day is below.  I took the kids down for a sunset swim, and the sunset did not disappoint.  It was the best one of the trip.

 Day 224 - Someone got a haircut!!

Day 225 - last night at the cabin.  I took this at midnight - couldn't resist.
