Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my 365 blog!

{If you'd like to visit my portrait photography website, click here.}

I'm a mom of 2 kids and have been a photographer for over 4 years. I decided to task myself with doing a 365 {or rather 366} photo project for 2012. I will take a photograph every day, with my "big girl camera". It will mostly be about my life, portrayed artistically. I want to challenge myself creatively and try new things. I'm excited about where this project will take me and I hope you will follow the journey with me!

365 Project | Day 38, 39, 40 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

Still truckin' along here.....its day 40 of this project already.  I can't believe it!  And I can't wait to see what new photos be added to this group.  Especially in the next few weeks with our trip to Kauai and Puerto Rico.  Yes, two.  Its crazy and insane, but we're going to do it!

I just bought this fun macro lens that I can't wait to try in Kauai with some of the beautiful flowers, so be sure to look for that within the next week.  But let's get back to this week.

Day 38 - I think the groundhog was wrong.....I definitely see signs of spring :)

Day 39 - I live in one of the greenest places on Earth.  Its so beautiful here regardless of the season, in my humble opinion.  But the trade-off as you all know is the RAIN.

Day 40 - my man-made rainbow!  I'm getting ready to launch a MAJOR makeover to my business including my website, proofing gallery, pricing, packaging, and the addition of some really COOL products.  I'm so excited to share it with you, but you'll have to wait just a bit longer.  So this photo is of some color samples of some SWEET frames I'll be offering very soon :)

Happy shooting!

365 Project | Day 36 & 37 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

Okay, here's my first iPhone picture for the 365 project.  I took Ella to see the Cavalia show yesterday under the white big top at Marymoor Park.  Have you heard of this show?  Its a horse/circus performance celebrating our four-legged friends and highlighting our relationship with them.  The show had all the over-the-top artistry, choreography, detail, beauty and humor of a Cirque du Soleil show.  It was stunning.

Ella is all about horses right now so the timing couldn't have been better.  Any time she goes to the library she brings home new horse books.  Besides reading up on different types of horses, she was thrilled one night to learn about the white Dancing Lipizzaner horses of Spain who literally look like they can dance with their grace, coordination, and strength.  They do this cool number called dressage which we also saw in the show yesterday.  It was amazing and I highly recommend you go see it if you can!

This second photo caught my eye.  I have a lot of dormant plants and bushes in our yard right now {note to self - get more evergreens}.  They just look ugly and dead.  But my spirea caught my eye for some reason so I took this.  It makes it look beautiful don't you think?

365 Project | Day 33, 34, 35 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

I'm noticing in the 30 days I've been doing this project, my posts have become more spaced apart.  Maybe by the end of this year I'll do weekly posts.  Its not tough to take the photos, but downloading, sorting, exporting, and uploading them is a different story for me!

So here are the photos from the past few days of my project.  Seattle has enjoyed some sunny weather lately, so day 33 is Ella copping some morning attitude before school with the sunrise in the background.  Love the lips and hand on the hip.

Day 34 is our car.  Our dirty, dirty car.  We took it up to the mountain pass last weekend to take the kids skiing and all week I've been noticing how grimy it is.  I don't know about everyone else in Seattle, but this time of year I rarely wash my car because its always raining.  Why bother, right?  So the photo doesn't entirely do it justice.  It was a lot dirtier than it looks in this photo.  I'll have to work on highlighting griminess, I guess.

Day 35 - today - we experienced yet another beautiful sunrise.  I wish I didn't have to today, honestly.  Don't get me wrong, I love a good sunrise, but not on a Saturday morning when I'm hoping my kids will sleep in.  It didn't happen.  Why is it that I have to wake them up every day during the school week but when it comes to the weekend, they're ready to go at 7:15?!?!  Let mama sleep in, I say!  BUT, I did get to see this view from my living room window this morning.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

365 Project | Day 30, 31, 32 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

Day 30 - Isaac making this face.  I don't know what you would call it - a silly face or a I-want-to-stick-my-toungue-out-but-I'm-afraid-I'll-get-in-trouble face, or what.  Probably the latter.  But he shows me this face quite often lately!

Day 31 & 32 - I actually missed day 31. :(  My first one.  But here is a make-up photo from today!!  I just love her.  She's growing up so fast.  We went to the park to enjoy our dry beautiful Seattle afternoon.  The kids had so much fun together!  See if you can tell by the last photo.
