Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my 365 blog!

{If you'd like to visit my portrait photography website, click here.}

I'm a mom of 2 kids and have been a photographer for over 4 years. I decided to task myself with doing a 365 {or rather 366} photo project for 2012. I will take a photograph every day, with my "big girl camera". It will mostly be about my life, portrayed artistically. I want to challenge myself creatively and try new things. I'm excited about where this project will take me and I hope you will follow the journey with me!

Asher - Seattle Child Photographer for the Modern Family

This is Asher.  He's the same age as Isaac, so I felt like we were comfortable and had a lot of fun together - even bonded a little!  He was a trooper as well.  We took many photos inside then went to a nearby park and did more of the same thing.  He hardly needed any bribing at all! :)

I took photos of his little sister, Lily and posted a few of my favorites last week here.  They are both sweet, wonderful kids and I can't wait to see how they grow and change!

iPhone Friday - Day at the Beach

What a beautiful day it is here in Seattle!

The kids and I met some friends at Golden Gardens park.  For some reason I always forget about that beach- maybe because I live in NE Seattle vs. NW Seattle, but it was beautiful.  The sun was shining, there was a nice breeze blowing, plenty of beach real estate despite many other families spending the day there, and we many things to look at and do.  We built sand castles, hunted for treasure, watched the sailboats and cargo ships go by, made stone soup, played cars, explored, skipped rocks, talked to scub-divers, watched kites, and had a picnic and sno-cones.

Anyway, it was a great, relaxing day.  My kids, ages 4 and 6, are getting to the age where they can just hang out all day, follow the rules, and play well together.  I wish it was all the time, but its not.  And that's okay.  For now.  Isn't that just a wonderful moment when you realize, with a deep breath, that everything's just rolling along and you can sit down in the sand and enjoy some company with your friends?

So for today's post, I thought I would share a few photos from today's beach excursion.  I used my two favorite iPhone apps once again:  the regular camera plus Camera+.

Enjoy your weekend and happy shooting!

Miss Lily - 1 year - Seattle Child Photographer

This is Lily - one of the sweetest 1-year-olds I've had the pleasure of photographing.  You can just tell how sweet and fun she is by looking at the photos below.  I'll post some photos of her big brother soon.

Happy Birthday Lily!!

Emma's 3rd Birthday! - Redmond Child & Family Photographer

This is Emma.  She turned 3 in May (yes, I'm behind in my posts again).  I had the pleasure of photographing her birthday as well as some child and family portraits outside.  I got many more smiles out of her when she didn't have the stress of her birthday party to deal with - that's exactly how Isaac would have been too!

Emma is so full of life - I really had fun photographing her and her family!

Happy Birthday Emma!

iPhone Friday - Road Trip Photo

So I'm a road trip photo junkie.  I LOVE taking photos while flying down the freeway at 75mph.  Maybe part of it is because as a kid raised in the 70s and 80s from Idaho, our family drove everywhere.  And you have to drive a long ways to get to see different parts of the country when you're from North Idaho!  We never flew by airplane.  I spent countless hours trying to keep myself busy in the car (this is pre-DVD player, mind you--I don't know how my parents survived!!) and a lot of the time I would just check out the scenery unfolding in front of my eyes.  I grew to appreciate watching how the topography would gradually change from a mountainous, forested landscape to a dry high-plain with scrub brush.  I loved watching the weather and remember driving through a few killer thunderstorms in the Dakotas and Nebraska.  I liked slowing down through small towns and seeing what restaurants and business they had and what was busy.  These are the places I'd see hot dogs, coffee, and fishing lures all on the same sign.  And there was always the wonder of approaching a big city.  Watching the freeway go from 2 lanes to 5 or 6, seeing all the lights and hi-rises off in the distance, and witnessing my parents trying to navigate through it with their large maps spread out on their laps.

This summer we're headed back to Coeur d'Alene a few times and I plan on taking quite a few photos on the road.  I took this photo below last week (while Tim was driving) on our way back to Seattle.  This is on I-90 on the bridge going over the Columbia river.  I took it with the iPhone camera and processed it once again with my trusty Camera+ app.

If you have similar camera photos you've taken while on the road, post them to my Facebook Page.  I'd love to see your favorites!

Happy Shooting!

iPhone Friday - iPhone Camera and Camera+

We've been in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho enjoying the lake and 4th of July festivities.  I grew up here and loved spending countless hours downtown and at the beach.  It never gets old coming back here - besides visiting family and friends,  the beautiful lake and quaint downtown with its exceptional 4th of July festivities can't be beat.  I love being able to share this with the kids so they can make their own memories of this beautiful place!

Here are two iPhone photos I've taken on this trip - one of Ella catching bugs in her Uncle Scott and Aunt Tami's back field, and a second of a beautiful sunset from our cabin on the lake.  Both are just taken with the regular camera app and enhanced with the Camera+ app I've discussed before.  Hope you enjoy!!

iPhone Friday - Hipstamatic Favorite

I thought it appropriate to share this iPhone photo today- one of my favorite flag photos taken last Fall when we went on vacation to Guemes Island.

We stayed at this quaint house on the beach literally 2 blocks away from the ferry terminal.  We went there with good family friends of ours who have two kids of similar age.  The place had a huge front lawn and beach that the kids loved!  Right at the edge of the lawn, the owners had set up 2 adirondack chairs next to this huge flag pole.  We were there in early October and the weather was fantastic!  I remember spending the whole weekend outside enjoying the sun, ocean breeze, and the beautiful view.  The flag was proudly flapping in the breeze and when I look at this photo it reminds me of Guemes Island.  If you're ever looking for a great spot for a getaway, Guemes is it!

Happy 4th!
