Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my 365 blog!

{If you'd like to visit my portrait photography website, click here.}

I'm a mom of 2 kids and have been a photographer for over 4 years. I decided to task myself with doing a 365 {or rather 366} photo project for 2012. I will take a photograph every day, with my "big girl camera". It will mostly be about my life, portrayed artistically. I want to challenge myself creatively and try new things. I'm excited about where this project will take me and I hope you will follow the journey with me!

365 Project | Day 361 - 366 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

Well here we are, at the end!  Happy New Years to you all!

December 26th (Day 361) - Isn't this day always the worst?  Its like a post-Christmas hangover.  We are getting ready to go on vacation in the snow, so we had to sadly take our beautiful but dry tree down and out of the house for fear of a fire while we were gone.

December 27th (Day 362) - The kids have felt under the weather and have been laying low today, so I caught them in a snuggly moment watching shows.

December 28th (Day 363) - Road trip over to Plain, WA for New Years.  It was absolutely gorgeous!

December 29th (Day 364) - Woke up to a beautiful snowy winter wonderland.

December 30th (Day 365) - Icicle taken with the macro lens.  The snow makes me miss the winter holidays growing up in Idaho.

December 31st (Day 366) - Happy New Year's Eve!  We had a fantastic day today which included towing the kids over a jump with the snow mobile.  They LOVED it!  Happy New Years everyone, and thanks for staying with me on this journey!!  This is bittersweet but I'm excited to move on to something else!

365 Project | Day 352 - 360 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

These photos were taken from December 17th through the 25th.  Only one week to go!!

Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas with family and friends!

December 17th  (352) - First Monday back after the Newtown, CT shootings.  My heart was heavy as I took the kids to school today.

December 18th (353) - We have more holiday crafts decorating the house.  Reminds me of my childhood and some of the crafts that my parents kept.

December 19th (354) - The kids are getting a kick out of Starflake's antics.

December 19th #2 (354.2)  - We woke up to a little bit of snow today!

December 20th (355) - Starflake slept in today

December 21st (356) - Love seeing all the updated family photos during the holidays!

Decemer 22nd (357) - Tim and Ella playing a game together while we waited for the grandparents to show up.

December 23rd (358) - Mom and Dad are here, and we enjoyed a fantastic fondue dinner/appetizer spread while we watched the Seahawks dominate the 49ers!

December 24th (359) - We got a little crazy with some gingerbread cut outs that eventually turned into drop cookies.  Kids still loved it and the cookies were still fun to decorate (and tasted good!).

December 25th (360) - Merry Christmas! - Isaac was immersed in playing cars all day long and we enjoyed a lazy fun day at home.

365 Project | Day 343 - 351 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

These were taken from December 8th to the 16th.  Only 15 more days to go!!  We are in full holiday mode.  We've been busy buying and wrapping presents, opening the Advent calendars each morning and looking for the elf, counting down the days till school is out, Nana and Grandpa come, and Christmas itself.  There's even a chance of snow around here which would top it all off!

Day 343 (12.8) - Do you believe?

Day 344 (12.9) - Making gingerbread houses with the kids.  Love all these little holiday traditions!  Its fun to hear they remember from year to year and look forward to.  I love this age!

Day 345 (12.10) - This is where Starflake is today!

Day 346 (12.11) - Editing my second to last session of the year.  Looking forward to a little down-time.

Day 347 (12:12pm on 12.12.12) - This is where I was- where were you?

Day 348.1 (12.13) - We visited Juno today, our favorite neighborhood reindeer.  Ella tried to feed her carrots but she just wanted to sniff them.  The kids got a kick out of the visit anyway but we had to watch out for her antlers - they were deadly.

Day 348.2 - Had to share this one too.

Day 349 (12.14) - The sun was shining today and rain drops sparkled even though my heart ached today.

Day 350 (12.15) - Macro shot of our poinsettia.

Day 351(12.16) - Starflake is getting creative/funny!

365 Project | Day 335 to 342 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

These were taken from December 1st to December 7th!  Getting close.......

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas (around here).  You'll notice a theme to my photos this week. :)

December 1st - We could hardly wait till the start of the month to break out our holiday village and other decor.

December 2nd - We got the tree!  Every time we get out the ornaments I love looking at all these vintage ones my grandmother made.  There is so much care and detail put into each one - I just love them.

December 3rd - Someone is getting crafty at our house!

December 4th - I recently read a tutorial on taking photos and getting your Christmas lights to "sparkle".  Here is an example for you:  I shot the first photo with the aperture wide open at f2.8- my normal mode of operation.  In the second photo, I closed it way down to f32 and now the lights literally sparkle (no filters involved here).  Pretty cool, huh?

December 5th - I wanted to show off the fantastic fine art prints I've been fulfilling lately.

December 6th - Beautiful Christmas light bokeh from outside.

December 7th - Elf on the Shelf - first sighting!

December 7th #2 - Starflake Fireball looks a little mischievous.......

365 Project | Day 319 to 334 | Seattle Portrait Photographer

These were taken from November 17th to November 30th, a busy festive couple of weeks.  We were coming off of Ella's birthday, celebrating Thanksgiving, then shifting gears and starting to get excited about Christmas.

Nov. 17th - The kids were busy coloring mosaic color-by-numbers that Ella got for her birthday.  They were immersed in this for a good couple of hours.  Love that!

Nov. 18th - I suggested the kids make themselves bubble mustache's for Movember and this is what I got!

November 19th - Ella is busy with the fall/Thanksgiving window decor.

November 20th - We went on one last training walk/run with friends before Ella's kids marathon race.

November 21st - Pumkin pie- check.  Note- CLEAN the stovetop!  (I hate the glass top BTW).

November 22nd - Thanksgiving!  Tim smoked our 13 lb. turkey again this year, and Tommy turkey did not dissapoint.  We enjoyed a festive, laid-back day with good friends.

November 23rd - I had to take this photo of the place cards the kids made for Thanksgiving.  We're still using them and they plan to make some for Christmas dinner.

November 24th - Kid's marathon race day! (taken with iPhone)

November 25th - I finally got started on a new knit hat for Ella.  It's going to be so cute when it's done!

November 26th - Loved the infrared look I got from this evening shot of lavender.

November 27th - Shipping a lot of products out to customers today.

November 28th - I got to spend the morning with this adorable family!

November 29th - Our berries are ripening in full-force in the back yard, and I love the Christmas colors!

November 30th - The next three photos are from Friday the 30th.  The kids are now starting to get excited about Christmas and wanted to get a tree today, but we thought we'd start off with the window decorations and get the tree tomorrow.

So serious about the task at hand.

Love the backwards letters :)
